How MacroFriend works, from first meal to an adaptive target

MacroFriend turns a WhatsApp chat into a simple food diary. Setup gives you an initial calorie and protein target. Each meal message adds an estimate to your daily total, corrections update the entry, and regular weight check-ins eventually let the service compare your recorded intake with your real weight trend.

The complete flow

  1. Answer the setup questions

Choose your goal and provide the basic information needed for an initial calorie and protein target. You can review the plan before starting the trial.

  2. Connect the WhatsApp chat

After checkout, one tap opens MacroFriend in WhatsApp. There is no second app account or app-store download.

  3. Send a meal

Use a photo, text description or voice note. Add a barcode or weight when you have it and want a more specific entry.

  4. Review the reply

MacroFriend lists the foods it understood, the estimated calories and macros, and what remains in your daily target.

  5. Correct anything that is off

Reply with the missing ingredient, actual portion or right food name. The diary entry is updated without making you enter the meal again.

  6. Log weight consistently

Over time, intake and weight data create a trend. After about two weeks of useful data, MacroFriend can adjust the initial target to better match your observed energy use.

What happens to a meal photo

The photo is processed to identify visible foods and estimate portions. MacroFriend returns the nutrition result to the chat, then keeps the numbers rather than the meal image. If the plate contains something the camera cannot know, such as butter under vegetables or the exact amount of dressing, you can add that information in your reply.

Text and voice logs follow the same basic route. More specific input tends to produce a more useful first estimate, but the service is designed to accept the amount of detail you have at that moment.

What the adaptive calculation can and cannot do

The calculation looks for a relationship between average intake and weight change. It needs enough repeated data to separate a trend from normal scale movement, which is why the initial target does not change after one large meal or one unusual weigh-in.

The result is still an estimate. Logging gaps, inaccurate portions, water retention and changing activity all affect the signal. MacroFriend uses the evidence available and updates gradually; it does not claim to measure metabolism directly.

What you receive during the week

  • A calorie and macro estimate each time you log.
  • A running view of calories and protein remaining for the day.
  • Corrections inside the same WhatsApp conversation.
  • A light dinner check-in when useful and a weekly recap when there is enough to recap.
  • An adaptive calorie target once the diary and weight history contain enough consistent information.

Cancelling or deleting your data

A subscriber can cancel at any time. Cancelling during the seven-day trial prevents the first charge; after payment, access continues until the end of the paid period.

The privacy and data-deletion pages remain available without entering the WhatsApp conversation. A deletion request removes the service data tied to the account, subject to records the company must retain for legal or payment reasons.
