Privacy Policy

MacroFriend is a nutrition assistant that runs inside WhatsApp. This policy explains what we collect, why, and how to get rid of it. SPACE CADET d.o.o. is the data controller.

What we collect

• Your WhatsApp phone number. It is how we identify you. There is no account, password or email.
• Photos of food you send us, plus voice notes and text describing meals.
• Health-related information you give us: height, weight, age, sex, activity level and your goal. We use these solely to calculate calorie and macro targets.
• Your meal log — the estimates we produce, and any corrections you make to them.

Why we collect it

To provide the service you asked for: estimating the nutritional content of your meals, tracking them against a target, and checking in with you. We process this data on the basis of performing our contract with you. For the health-related fields, we rely on your explicit consent, given when you complete setup — you can withdraw it at any time by deleting your data.

Who else sees it

We use a small number of processors, and no one else:

• Meta (WhatsApp Business Platform) — delivers the messages.
• OpenAI — estimates nutrition from your photos and transcribes voice notes. Content sent through the API is not used to train their models.
• Supabase — stores your profile and meal log, hosted in the EU (Frankfurt).
• Vercel — runs the application.
• Upstash — queues messages for processing, in the EU. Note this queue carries only a reference to your photo, never the image itself.
• Polar — handles payment if you subscribe. We never see or store your card details.
• Meta and Google — only when you allow marketing cookies on this website, we send limited website and purchase measurement (such as an advertising click identifier and a pseudonymous account identifier) to measure campaigns. We do not send your meal logs, photos, nutrition targets or health profile to advertising platforms.

We do not sell your data or use your meals to train any model. You can reject optional cookies, or change your choice at any time using “Cookie settings” on the website.

Website cookies

The website uses one necessary cookie to remember your privacy choice. If you opt in, analytics storage helps us understand visits and funnel steps, while marketing storage enables Meta Pixel and Google Ads measurement. Optional cookies are not loaded before consent.

How long we keep it

Your profile and meal log are kept while your account exists, because a food diary is only useful over time. Meal photos are not stored by us at all — we fetch the image from WhatsApp, estimate from it, and keep only the resulting numbers. Delete your data and everything goes immediately and permanently.

Your rights

Under the GDPR you can access, correct, export, restrict or erase your data, and object to processing. The fastest route for most of these is the chat itself:

• Send “delete my data” in WhatsApp — you will be asked to confirm, and then everything is erased permanently.
• Send “stop” to end all proactive messages while keeping your data.
• For a copy of your data, or anything else, email hello@macrofriend.co.

You also have the right to complain to the Croatian Personal Data Protection Agency (AZOP).

Not medical advice

MacroFriend estimates — it does not measure. The figures are approximate and should be treated as a guide. It is not a medical device and provides no medical, dietary or clinical advice. If you have a health condition, are pregnant, or have a history of disordered eating, speak to a doctor or registered dietitian.

Children

The service is not intended for anyone under 18 and we do not knowingly collect their data.

Changes

If this policy changes materially we will tell you in the chat before the change takes effect.
